THE DEAD… ARE ALIVE’ AS THE OPENING titles of the 2015 Bond film Spectre read. Now one lucky reader and a companion can experience the same thrilling parade on a six-day trip to Mexico City with small group travel company.

Mexico’s Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) on 2 November is not just a time for families to remember loved ones, but has grown into a dazzling, even life-affirming celebration that captures the mix of the country’s cultures, Indigenous and Hispanic. Even if the capital’s mega parade started life only when requested by the 007 film-makers, the festivities’ roots go back centuries.

On your tour (search for trip code ‘CMDD’ at gadventures.co.uk), you will acclimatise first with a stroll around Mexico City’s Unesco-listed historic centre, and a visit to San Juan Market to try some Mexican specialities. The following day is the time to get your face painted, watch the floats and dancers, and join the after-parties.

You’ll see another facet of this event at San Andrés Mixquic on the outskirts, lit by flickering candles and scented with incense. There’s also free time to explore ancient pyramids, take in the art of Frida Kahlo or even watch a lucha libre match – should you wish to seize the day in Mexican style.

Closing time and date: 2359 on Sunday 12th April 2020. Entries received after the closing date of the promotion will not be considered. Only one entry per person.

The winner must be over 18 years old and hold a valid 10-year passport – with six months or more remaining after return to the UK.

THE PRIZE

This Prize Draw is open to residents of the UK aged 18 or over, except for employees of Immediate Media, Lonely Planet and G Adventures their families, agencies or anyone else associated with this competition.

There will be one overall prize for one winner plus one guest. The prize consists of two return economy flights up to £600pp from London to Mexico City and Mexico City to London, two places on the G Adventures 6-day “Day of the Dead in Mexico City” (trip code: CMDD) with accommodation, 6 meals, excursions and experiences (full details available online), tour transport and G Adventures tour guide.

The maximum total prize value is £2,598 based on the recommended retail value at the time of printing. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prize.

The flights and tour must be taken in one trip, and both require 14 days advance booking and are subject to availability. Travel must be booked directly with G Adventures by 15 May 2020 and taken by 30 October 2020. Chosen departure date must already have four other full paying passengers confirmed on the tour to be eligible for this prize. Travel not permitted on these dates: between 15 December 2020 and 04 January 2021.
Prize travel is subject to G Adventures General Conditions of Carriage. The winner and their companion must travel together on prize flights and tour, and will not accrue any frequent flyer points on the prize travel. An upgrade cannot be purchased on airfares with cash or frequent flyer points and stopovers are not permitted. Once any ticket has been issued, the date, origin and destination cannot be changed.

Immediate Media, Lonely Planet and G Adventures make no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at the destination.

Compliance with any health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the prize winner and companion.

The winner and their chosen companion must comply with all relevant customs, security and immigration requirements, including appropriate passport and visa requirements. Immediate Media, Lonely Planet and G Adventures will not be responsible for any passenger’s failure to comply with these requirements.

The prize winner and the companion are responsible for holding a passport with at least six months validity. And must organise relevant visas where required.

The prize does NOT include any insurance, travel to and from the UK departure airport, or any travel or other expenses during the trip. Any out of pocket expenses (such as phone, room service, drinks purchases, gifts and food are not included in the prize.

The package is non-transferable and no alternative packages will be offered.

There is no cash alternative.

The prize is subject to availability.

Immediate Media, Lonely Planet and G Adventures shall not be responsible for any indirect, special or consequential damages or losses suffered by the entrant or a third party.

The prize is provided by G Adventures.

The winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries. The Promoter’s decision will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.

Winners will be notified by the prize provider by email within 28 days of the competition closing date.

If the prize provider can’t contact the winner within a month of such notification, the Promoter will offer the prize to a runner-up, or re-offer the prize in another promotion.

You must provide your full name, address and daytime telephone number. We will use your personal details to administer this promotion, and will not publish them or provide them to anyone without your permission.

RULES, LIABILITIES AND JURISDICTIONS

When you enter the competition, you agree to be bound by these rules.

The Promoter does not accept responsibility for loss, damage or injury occurring to the participant arising from his or entry into the promotion or occurring to the winner(s) arising from his or her acceptance of a prize.
